The Cherem Piano Studio Program
Students are taught the fundamentals, including:
- How to listen to music
- How to write music
- How to sing music
- Theory of music
- Developing a musical ear
- Developing a sense of rhythm
Instruction begins with proper technique, which includes correct position of body, arms, hands and fingers. Gradually, as ear, skills and taste develop, the student is introduced to and plays an ever widening variety of music, such as romantic style, classical style, polyphony, modern music and technical pieces.
Teaching is customized for each student, depending on age, aptitude, skills and progress.
Curriculum covers grades 1 through 10 and may include preparation for the Royal Conservatory examinations.
Students are encouraged to participate in competitions, which helps to stimulate and maintain their interest.
A specialized curriculum is individually developed for adult students and for students with special needs, such as high functioning emotionally or mentally disadvantaged children or young adults.
Lessons are given at Mrs. Cherem’s studio where the learning experience is superior because the environment is completely focused.
All lessons are taught personally by Nonna Cherem.
